Ford's Historic Return to LeMans

Henry Ford II was a spiteful man.

He once fired his company's president, despite the man driving unprecedented revenues, because "Sometimes, you just don't like somebody."

It should be no surprise, then, that when negotiations broke down between Ford and Ferrari in 1963, Henry Ford's hot-headed grandson swore revenge. And how do you best get revenge on a company that prides itself on building the fastest cars?

Beat them in a race.

Not just any race-- the race: 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Three years later, Ford had teamed up with renowned racing driver and designer, Carroll Shelby, and entered the GT 40 MkII in the world's most prestigious annual race at the Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans, France. Ford took not only first place, but second and third -- shutting out Ferrari.

Ford continued to enter, and win, for the next four years.

It's been 50 years since then.

This year, the Ford GT will finally make a historic return to the Circuit de la Sarthe, under the Ford Chip Ganassi Racing team.

At Northgate Ford, we wish Ford Chip Ganassi Racing luck at Le Mans. Come visit our Cincinnati, OH showroom, and test drive a new vehicle.
